This fun and flavorful method of cooking chicken results in juicy, tender meat with a crispy skin. The beer steams the chicken from the inside, adding moisture and flavor. It’s a show-stopping centerpiece for your next barbecue!

Ingredients

1 whole chicken (4-5 lbs)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 can of beer

Directions

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat about 375°F (190°C).
Rub the chicken with olive oil and season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Use any of my rubs and seasonings.
Open the beer can, drink or pour out half, and place the can inside the cavity of the chicken.
Place the chicken upright on the grill and cook for 1 hour 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 150°F.
Baste chicken in your favorite BBQ sauce (use my cherry sauce). Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Carefully remove the beer can, slice, and serve.
