This Oklahoma classic burger features a juicy beef patty topped with grilled onions for a savory flavor explosion. Cooked on a griddle for a crispy exterior, it’s a classic that never goes out of style. Serve it on a toasted bun with your favorite toppings!
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef chuck (80/20 blend)
- 2 large white onions, thinly sliced
- 4 hamburger buns
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
Directions
- Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and form loosely packed balls.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and melt the butter.
- Place a beef ball in the skillet, add a big drop of onions, and smash it flat.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, flip the patty (onions on bottom), and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Toast the buns in the skillet and assemble the burgers with onion-topped patties. If you like cheese, add cheese on the second flip.
